The 5 W's!

The 5 W's are helpful when looking over information because it gives you a way to organize your thoughts and help figure out what each piece of information would be classified as. It is especially helpful with information heavy things where you might not know exactly where something would fit in. The 5 W'S who what when where why and sometimes how. the who is who is involved. The what is what is the information about. The when is when was it collected or when did it happen. The where is at what place did it occur. The who is what was invloved such as the people. The why is the reason for doing the data, and finally the how is how does all the information tie into statistics.

Stats Overview.

My current views on statistics is that it will be a very different math class compared to others that I have been in suxh as geomerty pre-clalc and algebra. Unlike those classes where your trying to solve for the right answer your trying to prve your answer with facts and explaination, and can have a varity of right answers as well. Another one of my thoughts on stats is that i will enjoy it since it is so different it will feel like a whole different class because its aplicable to live, and not just a math class where your sitting in class wondering when will all this information ever come in to play in my life outside of this class? So overal so far in this short amount of time i believe that i will enjoy learning about statistics.

Survival....
Over the past two days we have in small groups been told to order a list of  items that were given from 1-11 in order of importance in order to surivive a plane crash in northern   Canada. As a group we would have surivied, our group average was a 1.9 and rated our items quite smilar to the experts with some exceptions, like with the gun we thought it was helpful but the experts didnt think it was of much use. We also didnt have the same ranking for the Lighter our difference was a 5, we didnt know how or what to use it for so we ranked it low while the experts ranked it as number one. As a individual I would most likely still survived but not as well. My overal average was a 3.3 which was 1.4 higher. Also my rankings were way different then the experts, i ranked my steel wool at a 11 while the experts ranked theirs ar a 2, thats a absoulte value difference of 9. I also thought that the gun was iportant so i ranked that at a 4 and the experts ranked it at a 9, so there was a difference of 5. Overal though the rankings matched pretty closely so I believe i would have survived.
